September 2019 CGC

Carroll Garden Club met at the Union Bridge Community Center in September–our first official meeting with our new President, Terry Conners, officiating. We had a good complement of attendees but several members were away.

We were pleased to find that in the refurbishing of the main room, curtains had been added to the previously bare windows which had caused a great deal of deafening sound reverberation when last we met in May. Curtains up also meant we could use our projector again as the room could be darkened, So, cheers all round!

Wahoo! Curtains!

Our hostesses had prepared a very pleasing luncheon with chili, cornbread and a Waldorf salad plus apple cake, frosted pumpkin squares and spice cookies for dessert.

Never fails to please –the dessert table

The hostess team had cleverly brought in garden veggies to use as table decor and a tall watercan was used to hold grasses, cattails , rudbeckia triloba,  red cockscomb and sunflowers. Our resident artist, Jan, drew triple scarecrows for the main table wall. Pretty clever!

As our first meeting of the term, typically the Year/Program booklets are passed out to members and we spend some time correcting errors in contact information! We discover what our  assigned hostess months are and play catchup with friends we haven;t see at the summer garden tours.  We pay our dues and sign up to attend the District V Semi-Annual Meeting in October.  We did not have a program speaker; this time each committee chairperson was asked to explain what they do in that role. Most spoke from their seats, so no photos were taken.

We adjourned the meeting and look forward to October!
