CGC Meeting March 2018

Carroll Garden Club met for the first time since December, our February meeting having been cancelled due to inclement weather. We met at the Methodist Church on Main Street in Westminster as the Union Bridge Community Center was temporarily closed.

Our hostesses were Jan, Charlotte, Barb and Kelly who brought in yummy salads, veggies, cookies and a cake for a light lunch.

Our speaker for March was Renee Rogers from Bowman’s Garden Center who demonstrated how to build a fairy house. These are curretly quite popular and are something with which children enjoy using their imagination in play and in helping to construct.  Of course, one can use a more rustic approach with small plants and natural materials, but the pre-made houses and accoutrements are available as miniature constructions.(New use for Barbie Dreamhouse furniture??)

Here is the the “Fairy House” that a members of Carroll Club made for display on the hostess table.

Pansies and March seem to go together well.

Karen had a “show and tell” where she re-purposed an old drawer in which to grow greens. Her examples were showing a bit of transplant shock, but will perk up.

CGC will meet in April at our usual location, Union Bridge Community Center at 12:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome.
