2013 Summer Tour 1: Joan Epler’s Garden in June

“Our garden happened not by a grand design but by happenstance as changes occurred in our landscape.  Forty plus years here have seen lots of changes–most recently the removal of 67 diseased mature spruce trees–so more opportunities arose.  Our 2.5 acres is about 1/2 wooded, the rest divided into many gardens.  We have around 50 roses, many azaleas, perennial beds, vegetables and fruits.  The past two years I have been practicing weed free gardening in most spaces.  The overall effect of our unskilled design endeavors is not too bad!”
