We had a large turnout for our November class on Vertical Line-Mass. I think a number of us were thinking about home decor to display for Thanksgiving. Quite a few were able to harvest dried seed heads, pods and other plants materials from their gardens to work with. Others of us purchased additional flowers from our trusted local grocer or Cutting Garden. I will admit that I seemed to lack inspiration that day and Carmen helped me substantially with my arrangement, but I learned a great deal listening and watching.
Line-mass creations employ the use of mass for a greater feeling of depth. Plant material is placed to form an orderly outline and massed to create a focal area with gradual changes from line at the periphery of the arrangement to mass within the central axis. Line-mass designs have an open form with symmetrical or asymmetrical balance.
