July Garden Tour: Lorraine Fulton’s Place

In July, we traveled to Finksburg to visit Lorraine’s lush gardens. It appears that this area of Carroll County looked as though the ravages of the ongoing drought were less severe. The shade from the trees and the green grassed vista  in the rear added to this feeling.

This garden was landscaped in a professional manner with charming use of  varied hardscape materials and included a set off fenced vegetable/flower garden. Lorraine explained it had become gradually more shaded so she was trying more vegetables and flowers that tolerated less sun in that location.

She obviously loves trees as there were many specimens on the property being understandable proud of her Cryptomaria border which looked exceptionally well.

We enjoyed relaxing in some chairs in the shade at the end of the tour and concluded with beverages and cookies in the kitchen.

Here are some photos of the tour showing the basic layout of gardens and some specific plants.

Thank you, Lorraine!
