Juanita Adams, an Honorary Member of Carroll Garden Club since 2005, passed away January 18th, 2014. She was described by those who knew her as having a sweet, soft–spoken personality. I did not have an opportunity to know her as she had begun to lessen club activities by the time I began to put names to faces.
Juanita joined Carroll Garden Club in 1977 when membership was around 50 people. She held many executive positions in the club:
- Corresponding Secretary 1979-81, 1982-83
- First VP 1983-85
- President 1985-87
- Advisor 1987-1991
- Parliamentarian 2005-07
She also served District V:
- Young Gardeners Chair 1990-1993
- Legislation Chair 1999-2001
- Parliamentarian 2009-11
She was a Parks Board member from 1989-1992.
Juanita served on many committees in our club: Programs, Yearbook, Membership,Awards, Garden Therapy and Environmental Improvement. It seemed that she had a strong focus on Horticulture, which she chaired or co-chaired for many years and on Flower Show Committee, where her efforts were well regarded.
