Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland met on March 26th at Turf Valley Resort for their Annual Meeting.
The business meeting in the Waterford Room came first as Diana Bonner, outgoing President concluded the business of her term, Directors of the five regions reported and awards were bestowed.
Carroll Garden Club (and District V) had a nice number of members at this event. I spy Julia, Diane and Marjorie here…
Afterwards, attendees roamed the halls to look over the endor’s wares: wearables, jewelry, pottery containers and plants, etc.
Outside the grand Ballroom, where lunch would be served, there were arrangements designed in honor of outgoing and incoming FGCMD Presidents and the CAR.
District V, as the region of incoming President Carolyn Braverman, had the responsibility to provide the table arrangements which were varied colors of glass vases featuring tulips, mums, alstromeria and babies breath.
Our meal was delightful, starting with salad, Chicken Saltimbuca, asparagus and quinoa–though many were puzzled by this grain! Dessert was the ever popular tiramisu.
The meeting continued with the induction of the new officers. Given that our table did not have a good view of the dais, we had to rely on the big screen projection, so this is as good as the photo could be of the incoming officers with President Carolyn Braverman, First VP Anna O’Kelly and Second VP, Susie Middleton.
The program was called “Reflect on the Past-Celebrate the New”. There were 20 examples of design, including new ones from the most recent book, put together by the Flower Show School Judges. We were invited at the conclusion of the meeting to come up and examine all of the categories after a brief introduction by Instructor Dottie Howatt. FGCMD has been encouraging a new crop of members to come to the Flower Show School to becomes judges.
