On October 11th, 2018 at Holly Hills Country Club, District V under Director Jennifer Evans held its Semi-Annual Meeting.

All clubs were asked to contribute one or two floral table arrangements as a general fundraiser for the district. We always showcase the efforts of the club designers because one of the tenets of belonging to a garden club is the skill to put together an arrangement or at the very least appreciate and understand the artistry. The theme given was “Mum’s the Word”.
Here are most of the contributions to the tables:
We had the business meeting first where District V officers and committee chairs gave their reports. This was followed by Longfellow, Mount Airy, Mountain Laurel, New Market, Silver Fancy, Split Rail, Tasker’s Chance and Town and Country Garden Clubs giving oral reports on the doings of their clubs.
Then, luncheon was served by Holly Hills wait staff-a choice of crab cakes, Chicken Cordon Bleu or vegetarian pasta dish with seasonal veggies, potatoes, rolls and mini french desserts. Delish!
Our Director had contributed many seed packs for $1 per pack-both vegetables and flowers– all proceeds contributed toward fundraising. There were many taking advantage of the offer.
The program was well known local floral designer Ory Webster who worked his way through simple to complex designs for the holiday season, starting with Halloween and ending with Christmas.
