The Designer’s Guild welcomed participants at the Mt. Airy Senior Center to try their hand at transparency design. Here are some candid photos of work in progress.
TRANSPARENCY DESIGN
Description: a Creative Design including some see-through elements. This permits some components to be viewed through others. For Flower Show interpretation this means to see through easily. Man-made materials such as acrylic, glass, mesh, screening, open-weave fabric, grillwork, etc. may be used. Plant material certainly makes a greater impact by using skeletonized foliage, sea fans, open weaved grasses or branches, etc.
Again, remember this is a creative design. You will not necessarily need a container (vase); you can use small (tuna) cans or such to supply a source of water for you live plant material. Also, think FEW (or FEWER) flowers. (I plan to bring 3 large flowers and make two arrangements. . . and so!!)
Depth of the design will be achieved by placing materials behind and in front of each other or the transparent material.
The group is always asked to evaluate each design and Marilyn asks permission to make adjustments if she perceives the design can be improved.
Here are photos of the transparent floral designs as conceived by the ladies and one gentleman. Some were taken before adjustments were made.
