For our last post of the year 2016, we finish up with our December meeting at Union Bridge. As is often the case, December is given over to a Christmas workshop and to decorating that space with holiday decor for the tea luncheon.
Special kudos go to Jackie Smith for her outstanding garland making for the tables and the vignettes for the tables. A special note goes to the bears. I understand that our Barb Child’s makes stuffed bears and one (or more?) came from her handiwork. Everything provided was very tasty!
- Look at those garlands!
- Cute bears
- Intelligent bear
- School bear
- Very nice Father Christmas
- Deer in the snow
- Dessert table
We missed a few people but turnout was pretty good. Here’s our friend Charlotte who sat across from me. Others are in the lunch line.
We had our meeting first. The horticulture task was to bring in something red. Most people had toted their red items back to the work tables to use in arrangements but here were a few things brought in that were red or as close to a red as could be found this day.
- Pinky red amaryllis by Marjorie
- Deciduous holly–2 colors from Brenda
- Holly, of course
- Rose red camellia from a warmer clime!
- Many like to use Nandina with its red fall color
- Nandina berries?! Wow.
Barb Childs volunteered to teach anyone who wished to learn how to make a kissing ball out of a potato and boxwod.
- The main work group
- Potato with push-pinned ribbon holder
- Larkin and Barb at work
- That’s lush, Diane!
Other ladies had their own ideas to work on. Poor Jan brought tons of stuff to make a standing container for outdoors and ended up expending all her energy in the kitchen!
- Carmen advises Denise
- Joan works on her swag
- Gayle cogitates aloud
- Denise and Julia hard at work
- Pat places her white mums
- Somebody brought some nice magnolia leaves!
Here are some of the finished pieces-I didn’t get them all.
- Julia’s work
- Barb’s
- Marorie’s-I think
- Carmen’s wall pocket
- Joan’s swag
- Denise’s lantern
Pat L’s was very nice with that pop of white mum’s!
