The Carroll Garden Club met September 14, 1948, 2 PM at the lovely home of the Misses Zumbrum. McKinstry Mills, with eighteen members present.
IN the absence of the President and Vice President, the Secretary Mrs. Alfred Zollickhoffer had charge.Meeting opened by singing “This is my Father’s World.”. Roll Call followed with responses by each member pertaining to their gardens. Minutes were read and accepted.
An invitation was extended by Mrs. Harry Fogle and Mrs. Howard West to meet with them for the December meeting. Uniontown group to arrange the program.
Bouquets of wildflowers were on display for discussion.
THe program for the afternoon was presented by McKinstry’s Mill group consisting of a reading by Mrs. Herbert Snyder, “With Apologies”.
Miss Evelyn Fuss delighted the group with a piano solo taken from, “The Fisherman’s Hut”.
Mrs. William McKinstry, program chairman, then introduced Mr. Worthington Pearre who spoke about his experience abroad this summer visiting famous homes in Paris, England, France, Italy,Switzerland and Belguim.
Mrs. Edgar Barnes informed the club of the Pilgrimage through Carroll County homes in May of next year to be sponsored by the Historical Society.
Guests present were: Miss Evelyn Fuss, Mrs, Edwin Engle, Mrs. Frank Englar, Union Bridge; Mrs.Truman Pearre, Mrs. Jack Pearre, Miss Bess Clemson and MRs. Worthington Pearre,Clemsonsville; Miss Elizabeth Repp and Mrs. Ralph Yingling, McKinstry’s Mills.
The following were appointed on nominating committee. Report to be presented at next meeting.
