The Carroll Garden Club met January 7 at the home of Mrs. L.E. Stauffer.
The meeting was called to order by the President who asked that we try to be on time and second that we make every effort to be present.
The roll call was responded to by appropriate verses after which the minutes were read and approved.
The chairman of the Program Committee, Mrs. Walter Speicher, announced that the programs for the year would be in charge of members divided according to localities–Uniontown, New Windsor, Union Bridge and McKinstry Mills–each group having two programs with the June and October meetings being in charge of all groups:
Miss Dorothy Zumbrum–McKinstry Mills
Miss Bessie Wolfe–Union Bridge
Miss Ruth Bixler–New Windsor
Mrs. Walter Speicher–Uniontown
were appointed chairmen of their respective group.
Miss Ruth Bixler gave a very interesting talk on the trip to Baltimore and the Exhibit of Christmas Trees at the Art Museum.
In the absence of the Treasurer, Mrs. Charles Hesson reported a balance in the treasury of $3.60. She also collected the dues of $.25 per member.
It was decided to help Defense by using the social period after the program for knitting.
Mrs. Speicher was in charge of a quiz which the group enjoyed after which delicious refreshments were served by the hostess.
The meeting was adjourned to meet with Miss Marie Senseny on February 4, 1942.
