Connie lives on the street behind me. So when she says, “You have to come look at the colors in my yard! It’s turning out just the way I’d hoped!” it’s nothing to pop over with my camera to take a few snapshots. There are many different types of planting schemes: some prefer a big spring show, others focus on lush summer annuals and perennials. To plan for fall color is yet another approach with rewards amply evident when we have a prolonged autumn. Here are some of the colors with associated plants in case you too would like to try something similar in your own yard. (click to enlarge)
- Walking along Royer Lane en route to Connie’s
- Late blooms-but fabulous!
- Undecided as to which
- Color gradations are lovely
- Such delicate flowers!
- I like the juxtaposition of the seed heads and the holly against the Japanese maple, cherry and branches of the tree behind.
