Are you a sky reader? We gardeners spend lots of time outdoors and watching the sky for clues comes naturally.

This cloud formation came through after a week of unseasonably high temperatures in mid-March. Called a “Mackerel Sky”, due the fish scale effect, altocumulus is a mid-level cloud that often has parallel bands with shading. It frequently portends change is coming. Some rain arrived later and more normal (lower) temperatures prevailed.
